The Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement upholds the Bill on amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine.
The Bill (Reg. No.3102) supplements Ukrainian legislation on citizenship with a regulation that establishes legal liability for its violation for any persons, not only officials as it is envisaged by effective Laws.
Moreover, the Bill supplements the Criminal Code of Ukraine with a new article in the Chapter "Crimes against the National Security of Ukraine" that establishes a criminal liability in the form of a penalty or public work for voluntary acquisition of a citizenship of another State by a citizen of Ukraine, provided he\she is of full age. The regulation envisages criminal liability for voluntary enrolment of a citizen of Ukraine for a military service of another State which is not a military duty or alternative (non-military) service due to the legislation of the State in question.
The Committee members uphold the Bill, as its adoption "will enhance the mechanism of criminal and legal regulation of relations in the field of illegitimate actions of Ukrainian citizens related to acquisition of a citizenship of another State".
