In the course of the meeting, the Parties discussed the events in the Caucasus, and current international political situation. According to German parliament members, development of relations with Ukraine is of utmost importance not only for the Federal Republic of Germany, but also for the whole Europe.
Borys Tarasiuk, Chairman of the Committee on European Integration, appealed to the deputies of Bundestag with the request to "support Ukraine in its pursuit to obtain clear-cut prospects of membership in the European Union and the NATO Membership Action Plan at the EU Summit in December 2008".
