The hearings were attended by the People´s Deputies of Ukraine, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Academy of Sciences, rectors of leading higher education establishments, representatives of scientific circles and the public.
Volodymyr Polokhalo, Committee Chairman, stated that the Bill elaborated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is of vital importance for coordination of Ukrainian higher education system with the European standards. Moreover, it takes into consideration challenges that faced Ukraine due to the requirements of the Bologna process.
The Committee Chairman also underscored that none of 904 higher education establishments of Ukraine is included into the international rates. Our legislation fails to differentiate between the definitions a "national", "State", "regional", "local", "classical" higher education establishment.
The participants of the meeting also dwelled upon the issues of scientific activity at the higher education establishments.
The attendants of the hearings resolved to summarize the recommendations and scrutinize them at the Committee meeting.
