Pursuant to the Bill (Reg. No.2299), the rate of a living wage should be established due to the prices for main foodstuffs as of December 2007, and for the minimum set of non-foods and services due to the data of the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine concerning consumer price index (index of inflation) for Year 2008, which constituted 112,0% instead of 109,6% predicted by the Government.
The Bill also adjusts the rate of minimum wage established by the Law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for Year 2008, and Amendments to several Legislative Acts" to economically sound rate. Then, according to the author of the Bill, the rate of minimum wage will be established in the amount of 90,5% of a living wage for able-bodied persons.
