The Draft Resolutions (Reg. No. 1053, Reg. No. 1053-1) envisage State celebration of the 70th anniversary of birth of Leonid Yuzkov, the first Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
The Committee members stated that Leonid Petrovych Yuzkov (1938-1995) is regarded as one of the founders of the Constitutional right of Ukraine. In 1990 he headed the working group on elaborating the Draft Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine. In July 1992 he was elected Head of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. L.Yuzkov headed the group of scientists who elaborated the concept of the Basic Law, and the working group on elaborating the Draft of the new Constitution of Ukraine.
At the same time, the People´s Deputies stated that the Decree of The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №11 of 9 January 2008 deals with the said issue and approves the organizing committee and plan of events for celebrating this memorable date.
Inter alia, the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine commissions the State Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine to create a series of topical television and radio programs to cover life and career of an outstanding founder of the Constitutional right of Ukraine and to provide mass media coverage of events related to the celebration.
The Committee members believe that adoption of the resolutions will contribute to awareness of Ukrainian and world public of considerable contribution of Leonid Yuzkov to the development of national legal concepts.
