The Bill (Reg. No. 1232) creates extra conditions for securing equal opportunities of men and women in the election process.
The following Laws are amended: "On securing Equal Rights and Opportunities of Women and Men", "On Election of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine", "On Election of the People´s Deputies of The Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Local Councils, and Village, Settlement and City Mayors" in the part appertaining to formation of election lists.
The Committee members stated that, pursuant to the Bill, "political parties and election blocs whilst nominating the candidates to the People´s Deputies of Ukraine, the Deputies of The Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Deputies of local councils in a multi-mandate State electoral district and relevant multi-mandate districts, are to secure representation of men and women in election lists. Both men and women are to be represented in each list of five nominated in the election list".
The introduced amendments does not provoke objections, since these are positive actions aimed at elimination of misbalance in the opportunities of men and women to realize their rights granted by the Constitution.
