T.Motrenko, Director of the Chief Department of the State Service of Ukraine, presented the program at the Committee meeting. He stated that introduction of the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) in Ukraine will facilitate coordination of national legislation with the EU regulations and standards (acquis communautaire).
Among the countries, on which the European Commission extends the European Neighborhood Policy, Ukraine is the first State that actively introduces TAIEX program.
Since the start of TAIEX introduction in Ukraine (September 2006), more than 1000 representatives of public authority attended 61 event of the program in the following fields: freedom, safety and justice; home market; transport, environment and power engineering; agriculture and food safety.
Borys Tarasiuk, the Committee Chairman, drew attention to the insufficient use of TAIEX resources by Ukraine. He emphasized that the Committee on European Integration should act as a coordinator of the technical aid projects.
