The Bill (Reg. No. 2473), submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, amends the Criminal Code and the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements. The said amendments strengthen economic sanctions envisaged by Article 175 of the Criminal Code, and, therefore, alleviate such a type of criminal liability as imprisonment of officials of economic entities that committed the said crime.
The Bill also enhances administrative liability for non-compliance with legitimate requirements set by officials of a specially authorized executive body in charge of State supervision over violation of labour legislation and compulsory State social insurance, or hampering activity of the said bodies.
Representative of the Government stated that adoption of the Bill is caused by the necessity to enhance social protection of citizens´ labour rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine. Moreover, it facilitates efficient implementation of basic principles of State social policy in Ukraine.
The Committee members upheld the legislative initiative of the Government, as it will promote timely payment of wages, and reduction in the arrears of wages.
