On Monday, Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Dimitris Sioufas, President of the Hellenic Parliament, within the scope of the Summit of Chairmen of the Member States of Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC).
D.Sioufas stated that Ukraine is a friendly nation to Greece. Moreover, one of the largest Ukrainian Diasporas resides in Greece. The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine referred to Greece as to the founder of world democracy.
Then A.Yatseniuk dwelled upon relations between Ukraine and Greece. Thus, he deems necessary to settle the issue concerning social security of Ukrainian Diaspora in Greece. He also recommends that Ukrainian and Hellenic Parliaments appeal to the Governments concerning elaboration of a respective agreement that should be signed during the visit of Viktor Yushchenko, President of Ukraine, to the Hellenic Republic.
The Parties also discussed Euro-Atlantic pursuits of Ukraine, and world-wide recognition of Holodomor of 1932-1933.
D.Sioufas congratulated Ukraine on its accession to the WTO.
