Speaking at the Parliamentary Hearings on the subject "On Implementation of the European Social Chrter in Ukraine", Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, began his speech with the following words: "A Sound Economy is a Pledge of High Social Standards". The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada believes that Ukraine should strive for macroeconomic stability, growth of the Gross Domestic Product, employment of population, reduction of inflation, and efficiency of labour".
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada also dwelled upon labour migration. According to his words, Ukraine´s major problem - lack of personnel is caused by constant outflow of labour resources from the country. Due to the tendencies of globalized economy, that would be foreigners, not Ukrainians who will work in Ukraine, unless the authorities pay attention to the said problem".
The Head of Ukrainian Parliament highly appreciated the Labour Code of Ukraine adopted by The Verkhovna Rada at the First Reading.
Eventually, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada dwelled upon the trade unions. He believes that Ukrainian trade unions should not deal with politics.
"Trade unions are vitally important for the development of efficient economy. They should become a truly independent powerful body in charge of protection of employees," stated Arseniy Yatseniuk.
