The Committee on Public Health recommends that the Parliament adopts as a Basis the Bill on Amendments to Article 1 of the Law "On Safety and Quality of Foodstuffs"

The Bill (Reg. No.2181) coordinates the term "standard" of the said Law with the definition of the similar term of the International Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade. Pursuant to the said Agreement, the standards are regarded as voluntary, and technical regulations as obligatory.

Therefore, adoption of the Bill will not only coordinate the legal terminology with the international, but also will harmonize it with current legislative regulations of Ukraine.
