The Bill (Reg. No. 2259) establishes dues for development of national cinematography, and defines the procedure of its collection and allocation. Pursuant to the Bill, receipts from wholesale and retail trade in alcoholic and tobacco goods become an object of taxation at the one per cent rate. The dues will be paid to the State Budget of Ukraine, and collected at the special account. The funds will be used for production and showing of national films, and for preservation and restoration of national cinematographic heritage.
The Committee upheld the Bill, though introduced a number of remarks.
The Committee also recommends that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine elaborates a new legislative act on development of national cinematography, or extends the duration of the National Program for Development of National Film Industry for Years 2003-2007.
