Anatoliy Hrytsenko, Committee Chairman, stated that discussion of the said issue was induced by a program shown on one of the TV channels. According to the said program, it is possible to purchase data basis for any citizen of Ukraine for 300-500 Hryvnias at the "Petrivka" market in Kyiv.
"For the last months, the Committee carried out substantial activities in cooperation with 50 different organizations, including regional State administrations, secret services, defence and law enforcement agencies, prosecution and the Supreme Court, and analyzed the said matter," stated Anatoliy Hrytsenko.
Ivan Stoiko, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Information Security, recommends that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine brings forward the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data and Additional Protocol to the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data. The said documents are to be ratified by The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The Committee members resolved to hold separate committee hearings concerning the said issue.
