I sincerely congratulate you on the 400th anniversary of foundation of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Every nation has own popular educational temples: Sorbonne in France; Bologna in Italy; Oxford in Britain, Charles University in the Czech Republic; Jagiellonian University in Poland. The national treasure of Ukraine is Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
We are proud that our Academy was not only the first Ukrainian university, but also the only educational establishment in the whole orthodox Eastern Europe. Great number of talented writers, philosophers, composers, statesmen have been brought up in the walls of the Academy.
During its history, the Academy developed into a powerful educational-scientific establishment with considerable achievements, own traditions, innovative technologies, new generation of specialists. However, the major Academy's achievement is its association with democratic spirit, reformatory ideas, high moral virtues, transparent entrance campaign and lack of corruption.
I wish pedagogues and scientists of the Academy sound health, new achievements and fruitful work for the sake of our state.
