Comprehensive implementation of the Minsk agreements by all parties will facilitate speediest settlement of humanitarian problems in the east of Ukraine, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said at the meeting with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks on Thursday, July 2.

Groysman thanked Muiznieks for the interest in protection of rights of residents of temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons.

The Parties discussed minimization of consequences of the humanitarian conflict in Donbas, which was caused by the external aggression.

The Head of the Verkhovna Rada reminded that the decision to send the first humanitarian convoy to Donbas was approved by the President of Ukraine in support of the Ukrainian Government in summer 2014, however, residents of temporarily occupied territories failed to receive the humanitarian convoy as it was then blocked by the militants.

He also said the question of humanitarian corridors had been raised five times in the frames of the trilateral contact group "however, the question was blocked" by another party.

The Head of the Verkhovna Rada said that the Minsk process is disrupted by the Russian Federation and illegal armed formations it supports in the east of Ukraine.
