Ukraine and Moldova have to combine efforts on the international arena to protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
This was said by First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova for Reintegration Victor Osipov on Thursday, April 16.
“Ukraine and Moldova jointly have to explain the situation in our countries — in the east of Ukraine and in Transnistria,” he said, having noted that the Russian Federation “is in war against whole Europe thus, our job is to hold joint policy in the European Union.”
During the meeting, the Parties discussed wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular, its parliamentary element, expressed support to further intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation, and also discussed European integration strivings of our states and assured of mutual support in this field.
Parubii said the Ukrainian authorities “want and have political will” to develop further bilateral cooperation. He assured the Verkhovna Rada will do its best to deepen Ukrainian- Moldovan cooperation.
Besides, the parties exchanged opinions as to approaches to and experience in regulation of local conflicts, in particular, at the legislative level.
Parubii expressed gratitude to the Republic of Moldova for its support to Ukraine. He noted: “As no one else you do understand us, as Moldova has the problem of Transnistria.” “We are interconnected in global problems, which are very dangerous for our countries,” Parubii said.
He also called “a great success” the fact that Ukraine had managed to prevent the embodiment of Russian Federation’s plan for creation of “a corridor” to Transnistria through the territory of our state.
In turn, the deputy prime minister of Moldova noted that the unleashing of the Transnistria’s conflict and the conflict in the east of Ukraine has considerable importance for creation of the security system in Europe.
The parties also drew attention to the importance of support to Ukrainian and Moldovan Diasporas living on the territories of our states paying particular attention to the necessity to deliver fair information about the situation in Ukraine to the Ukrainian Diaspora living in Transnistria.
Parubii noted that Ukraine and Moldova “have to be part of the European world in humanitarian dimension” and jointly resist Russia’s information aggression.
