Chairperson of the National Council Yurii Artemenko noted that last year the National Council had to promptly react to "informational war conducted against Ukraine by propagandist machine of the Kremlin". In connection with this, he said that the National Council revised strategic priorities and concentrated on the problems of protecting informational space of the country.
The National Council used the legislative mechanisms to terminate re-broadcasting on the territory of Ukraine Russian TV channels that do not comply with the European Convention on Transfrontier Television.
Moreover, the regulator ensured broadcasting in test mode of national informational TV channels and radio stations on the liberated territories of Donbas.
"The National Council continued working on a strategic project on transferring from analogue terrestrial television broadcasting to digital standards", said Yu.Artemenko.
MPs voiced several remarks on the practice of supervisory activities of the National Council and recommended avoiding double standards in evaluating the content.
People's deputy Yurii Pavlenko claimed the National Council does not pay enough attention to protection of informational space. Olena Kondratiuk, Serhii Vysotskyi and Olha Chervakova also voiced several remarks.
