The Law on elections of deputies of local councils, village, township, and city mayors shall be adopted in May. This stressed Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman at the first meeting of the expert group on elaborating the bill "On elections of deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea, local councils, village, township, and city mayors" on Thursday.
"I would like for us to become a single team and to elaborate a joint draft law. I ask you to work so that we could submit the bill to the Verkhovna Rada by April and adopt it in May", said Volodymyr Groysman.
The expert group on elaborating the bill includes "everyone who deals with elaboration of the electoral legislation", particularly, representatives of the parliamentary Committee on Judicial Policy and Justice, representatives of All-Ukrainian associations of local self-government authorities, central executive authorities, Central Elections Commission, experts and international experts.
Following the results of the meeting, Volodymyr Groysman instructed the Committee on Judicial Policy and Justice to elaborate a single bill which would reflect joint stand of the groups' members. He suggested discussing the previous version of such integrated bill at the next meeting in two weeks. "We have to create such an electoral system that would comply with society's requirements", claimed Volodymyr Groysman.
