The Committee is aware of topicality of the issue raised by the Ministry in regard to preparation of the adjusted draft law on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine in the part of decentralization and local self-government, with consideration of recommendations of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission).
The Committee deems that amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine should be the first step on the way to implementing a full-scale administrative- territorial reform in Ukraine with further implementation and adoption of several bills on decentralization of public authority and its territorial structure.
With a view to the fact that fundamentals of local self-government, administrative and territorial division of Ukraine, as well as organization and activity of bodies of local self-government are subject to Committee’s jurisdiction, the people’s deputies are ready to actively participate in all the events organized by the Ministry within the framework of the respective work.
