Ukrainian politicians thanked their Danish colleagues for prompt ratification of the Association Agreement by their Parliament and for supporting Ukraine in its European aspirations and efforts taken to establish peace in Donbas.
At the same time, people’s deputies informed Danish parliamentarians about serious escalation of the situation in the East of Ukraine; invasion of regular troops of the Russian army; and human casualties that Ukraine daily suffers in connection with the war inspirited by the Russian Federation.
Iryna Herashchenko and Mariia Ionova addressed Danish deputies asking them to support the Ukrainian standing during the PACE session in January and not to vote for the return of the Russian delegation to the session hall. “The country that is daily violating fundamental human rights and principles of the Council of Europe, the one that supports terrorists and finances them has no right to vote in the PACE session hall until it gets back to respecting the international law at a state level, fulfilling Minsk agreements, and taking efforts to deescalate the conflict it has inspirited,” said the people’s deputies.
They informed also about the address, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, on recognizing “LPR” and “DPR” terrorist organizations by all the international countries, and asked Danish deputies to uphold this proposal.
Danish politicians showed interest in Ukrainian reforms, in fighting corruption and in the activity of a new Parliament. Iryna Herashchenko and Mariia Ionova told about the initiation of constitutional and judicial reform and the change of the deputy corps. They appreciated the fact that the present-day Parliament includes more women, and told about the establishment of the inter-faction union “Equal Opportunities” that united female deputies of different factions who are disposed to joint work to increase the role of women in taking the decisions of a state level.
