Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Estonian Republic
to Ukraine Sulev Kannike also was in attendance at the meeting. The issues of granting consultative assistance on adapting Ukrainian legislation to the requirements of the EU, as well as establishing deepened and comprehensive free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU were discussed during the meeting. Attention was attached to the necessity of familiarizing with the Estonian experience, particularly in the sphere of democratization of human rights, governmental self-government, as well as development of entrepreneurship, etc.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Party noted that they consider the necessity of activating interparliamentary dialogue between our countries as their top-priority. They dwelled on the domestic political situation in Ukraine, particularly, on the situation in the eastern part of the country and on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, stressing that this is a temporarily occupied territory.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Estonian Republic emphasized that her country was and remains a supporter of Ukrainian-Estonian cooperation. She underlined that Estonia supports Ukraine in the issues pertaining to preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as withstanding Russian aggression and Euro-integrational and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine.
