Opening the meeting, O.Syroid stressed the importance of law-making as the main function of the Parliament as the only legislative body of the country.
"We have gathered together to speak about quite practical things: legislative procedures and requirements of the rules of procedure.
However, I would ask you to think about why the legislative initiative exists, why the Rules of Procedure exist. It is very simple - they exist for the truth.
"We shall understand that the legislative procedure is a guarantee of a quality law", claimed the Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada.
Presenting the round table agenda, O.Syroid defined several substantial components of the issues discussed: procedural aspect of law-making, political culture of law-making, quality and clarity of legislative system as a guarantee of investment attractiveness of Ukraine.
Characterizing the procedural aspect of law-making, Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat, Chairperson of the Main Legal Department of the Secretariat Mykailo Tepliuk stressed that holding such event at the beginning of the Parliament's work "gives hope" that problematic aspects of law-making process will be realized and taken into account by MPs.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the issue on quality of legislative initiatives as a method of trust in the parliamentarism, the problems of forming agenda of the Verkhovna Rada, etc.
Representatives of the deputy corps, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, and public representatives were also present at this meeting.
