First meeting of the inter-faction deputy union "Equal Opportunities" was held today in the Verkhovna Rada. Apart from Co-Chairperson of the Committee Olena Kondratiuk, Mariia Ionova, and Liliia Hrynevych, representatives of "Petro Poroshenko Bloc", "People's Front", "Batkivshchyna" factions such as Iryna Herashchenko, Nataliia Novak, Olena Masorina, Oksana Yurynets, Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, Tetiana Donets, Olena Boiko, Oleksii Riabchyn, Nataliia Katser-Buchkovska, Olha Chervakova, Svitlana Zalishchuk, and Olena Shkrum also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the union's members discussed their main tasks in the Verkhovna Rada of the VIII convocation and organizational aspects of their activity.
The main attention was drawn to the necessity of elaborating legislative initiatives aimed at ensuring gender balance and respect for equal rights of men and women. All deputies had a chance to voice their stand on the areas of the union's activity.
Following the results of the meeting, it was decided to elaborate proposals on amendments to legislation and to establish closer cooperation with volunteers and NGO representatives who deal with protecting rights of women and children.
Next week, members of the "Equal Opportunities" union together with volunteers will congratulate children on the St. Nicolas's Day in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.
