Against the backdrop of reports about the suspension of U.S. military assistance, the discussion focused primarily on the critical need to continue supporting Ukraine’s Defense Forces, as this clearly aligns with the national interests not only of Ukraine, but also of the United States itself.

At the same time, russia must be pressured into peace through sanctions — something that, unfortunately, is not happening, despite 82 signatures by U.S. Senators in support of the relevant Senate initiative.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze emphasized the urgent need to restore a shared understanding and vision of common priorities: «It is critically important for Ukraine to identify those rational points of interaction with the United States that can work under the current circumstances.» Regarding the so-called negotiations between Ukraine and russia, the Committee Chairperson expressed deep skepticism, stating that russia shows no intention of pursuing a lasting peace — or even a temporary ceasefire. «This false expectation that a truce is just around the corner is dangerously misleading for the world. It also has a demobilizing effect on Ukrainian society,» she noted.

The members of the delegation assured that Washington has no intention of "abandoning" Ukraine, despite the fact that the top foreign policy priority for the United States is currently the Pacific region and preventing the strengthening of China’s position.

The Chairperson of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU also drew the delegation’s attention to certain areas in international policy where the United States is voluntarily retreating — such as rolling back support programs across the globe, shutting down non-governmental organizations, and other directions. «It is important to understand that these empty spaces will be filled by someone else. We are speaking with our European partners and urging them to close these gaps, but of course, they cannot cover everything. And in my view, this will have very serious long-term consequences,» Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stated.

The Chairperson of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU also drew the delegation’s attention to areas in international policy where the United States is voluntarily retreating — such as scaling back support programs around the world, shutting down non-governmental organizations, and other directions.

«It is important to realize that these empty spaces will inevitably be filled by someone else. We are talking to our European colleagues and encouraging them to step in and fill the gaps, but of course, they cannot cover everything. And in my opinion, this will have very serious long-term consequences,» Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stated.

The Chairperson of the Committee also expressed concern that while russia is increasing its capability to launch attacks and conduct concentrated acts of terror against the civilian population in Ukraine, news came from Washington about the halt in the supply of air defense systems and other critically needed military equipment that had been scheduled for delivery to Ukraine under the previous U.S. administration.

«It is difficult for us to understand such a step by the United States, particularly after the rather optimistic statements made by President Trump during the NATO Summit regarding Ukraine’s potential access to air defense systems. For us, these systems are vital — quite literally, they save human lives,» emphasized Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
