The meeting of members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence with Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany Boris Pistorius was held today in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
This is another visit of the head of the German Defence Ministry to Kyiv since the start of the full-scale war, which is not only a symbol of solidarity but also proof of consistent support for Ukraine.
During the meeting the parties discussed an actual situation at the frontline, mobilization, veterans' support and further steps in military-industrial cooperation. Ukraine emphasised the importance of cooperation development with German business such as «buy from us for us» which will speed up deliveries, reduce logistics costs and at the same time support the Ukrainian economy in times of war.
Particular attention was given to strategic communications. It was emphasized that EU citizens must clearly understand: Russia’s war against Ukraine is a shared threat to all of Europe, and support for Ukraine must remain consistent and unwavering.
Chairman of the Committee, Oleksandr Zavitnevych, noted:
«Germany is one of Ukraine’s key allies. We are especially grateful for the IRIS-T SLM systems that have been provided — they are already integrated into our national air defense and are effectively protecting the Ukrainian skies. This is a true shield against russian terror.»
The multinational Bundeswehr program for training Ukrainian servicemen within the framework of the European Union Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM) was also highly praised for already giving results on the battlefield.
German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius highlighted the resilience, creativity, and unity of the Ukrainian people, emphasizing the importance of Ukraine’s experience for strengthening security across the entire continent.
Participants in the meeting confirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and expressed confidence in the triumph of democracy and freedom.
«Germany stands us. And will remain with us until victory,» was the clear message from the Minister.
