On May 28, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, Oleksandr Merezhko, and members of the Committee held a video conference meeting with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Folketing (Parliament) of Denmark, Christian Friis Bach, and members of his Committee.

The meeting was attended by Members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, including Deputy Chairs of the Committee’s subcommittees Maryana Bezuhla and Mariia Ionova, as well as Committee member Iryna Herashchenko.

The discussion focused on current global political developments and Ukrainian-Danish bilateral relations, particularly interparliamentary cooperation, the security situation in Ukraine and the recent large-scale missile attacks by russia, prospects for a ceasefire and peace negotiations, the need to strengthen comprehensive support for Ukraine in repelling russia’s armed aggression, and the provision of effective security guarantees for our state. The sides also discussed sanctions against the aggressor state and the use of russia’s frozen assets for Ukraine’s economic recovery.

Particular attention during the meeting was devoted to discussing Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, including Denmark’s upcoming Presidency of the European Union and the prospects of opening as many negotiating clusters with the EU as possible.

Chairman of the Committee, Oleksandr Merezhko, expressed his gratitude to the Danish colleagues for their support and emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s swift accession to the European Union and NATO.
