As part of the visit of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development to European institutions in Brussels, a separate meeting was held with Robert Zille, Vice-President of the European Parliament. It is important to mention that this discussion was not about symbolic support, but an accurate mechanisms on continuing development of trade partnership between Ukraine and the EU.
The Chairman of the Committee Dmytro Natalukha announced that during the meeting the parties agreed to put a deputy in control for the actions of the EU Commission in order to prevent a retreat from the commitments made to Ukraine. In particular it is necessary to start consultations with Ukraine without delay on a full, fair and adequate alternative to the autonomous trade measures (ATMs) regime, which expires in the near future. Such a promise was openly given to Ukraine last year and today it's time to make it in a real negotiation process.
We are sincerely grateful to Roberts Zile for the clarity of position and support to Ukraine not only in words but in concrete political actions.
