«The russians say that the negotiation process should be based on the Istanbul ‘agreements’ or proposals of 2022, taking into account today's realities. Let me remind you of today's realities: in 2022, we did not have Western aid, we did not have the military-industrial complex that Ukraine has today, we did not have the sanctions that were imposed on russia. Our position is clear - we will not recognise any occupied territories as the territories of russia, we will not accept their demands to reduce our sovereignty or reduce our army or weapons, to resolve foreign policy issues, in particular, our path to the EU or NATO,» the politician said.
According to him, if putin is really ready to end the war, he can do so today, starting with a temporary ceasefire and the exchange of prisoners for all.
«Back on 18 April, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was ready for a ceasefire and then for sustainable peace. We have done everything to demonstrate this not in words but in deeds. Now Donald Trump is beginning to understand that Putin is just stalling for time. Unfortunately, we have lost more than a month for this understanding. I hope that there will still be new sanctions against russia, new aid for Ukraine, and this will be a signal to putin's partners, in particular the BRICS, who are also waiting for him to end the war,» the MP said.
