On April 30, 2025, a bilateral meeting took place in Brussels between the Ukrainian delegation and representatives of the European Commission as part of the official screening of Ukraine's legislative alignment with EU law under Chapter 26 «Education and Culture» (Cluster 3 «Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth»).

The Ukrainian side presented the state of adaptation of national legislation in the field of culture to EU standards, in particular on the protection and preservation of cultural heritage, artists' mobility, and digital transformation.

The Deputy Minister for European Integration, Andrii Nadzhos, represented the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine at the meeting. Additionally, the Chairman of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Mykyta Poturaiev, participated in the event in an online format.

Particular attention was paid to the Strategy for the Development of Culture until 2030, which is based on European practices. European partners asked questions about the mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of the Strategy and expressed their readiness to provide support in this area.

EU representatives highly praised Ukraine's progress in the cultural sector, particularly the achievements in media legislation that have contributed to the expansion of the «Creative Europe» program, as well as the initiative of Lviv city, which reached the final of the «European Capital of Culture 2030» competition. The discussion also covered the prospects for the development of the Creative Europe Office and the potential for its activities in regions, including those near the frontlines.

Among the topics that interested European partners were:

- Legislative initiatives concerning post-war reconstruction and the preservation of cultural heritage;

- Support for youth art and cultural diversity;

- Opportunities to deepen Ukraine's participation in EU cultural programs.

Attention was also drawn to the need for the restoration of programs supporting young artists within the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, among other issues.
