On April 29, 2025, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, Oleksandr Merezhko, held a meeting with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Julius Pranckevicius.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current security situation in Ukraine, recent peace initiatives and possible modalities for a ceasefire, as well as the need to enhance financial, economic, and military-technical assistance to Ukraine. They also addressed the importance of increasing budget allocations for the security and defense sectors in the Baltic States.

Special attention during the meeting was devoted to Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as the development of bilateral cooperation. This included participation in joint initiatives within the framework of international parliamentary forums, exchange visits at the level of relevant committees, and engagement between interparliamentary friendship groups.

Chairman Oleksandr Merezhko expressed his gratitude to his Lithuanian counterpart for the continued support and emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union by 2030.
