Currently, active work is being done by both the EU member states and  top diplomats of Ukraine, the President's Office and President Volodymyr Zelenskyi himself to ensure that the 16th package of sanctions against russia is announced on the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion.

This was stated by Arsenii Pushkarenko, the Member of Parliament, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.

"Sanctions are always a long-term perspective. We are working with our partners to close down the opportunities for russia to bypass economic restrictions as much as possible. Currently, efforts are underway to ensure that the 16th package of sanctions is announced by the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion. This package will target russia's banking system, aluminum—which is still actively purchased by the EU, russia's shadow fleet, and other aspects, including components that russia uses to operate 'Shaheds' and more," the politician noted.

According to him, expanding and strengthening sanctions pressure is an important step that brings us closer to a just peace.

The Member of Parliament also reminded that, in recent days, the foreign ministers of EU member states supported the extension of previously imposed economic restrictions against russia for another six months. He emphasized that a great personal contribution to this achievement was made by the EU’s chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas.
