The Governments of Ukraine and the Republic of India have signed an Agreement on Cooperation in Agriculture and Food Industry. The purpose of the Agreement is to expand mutually beneficial cooperation, create favourable conditions for market relations and increase national food security.
The agreement was signed with the participation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
The agreement provides for cooperation in the following areas:
Exchange of information on laws, standards and product samples of mutual interest.
Exchange of information between relevant research institutes in the field of agriculture and food industry on scientific and practical activities (fairs, exhibitions, conferences, symposia, etc.).
Conducting joint research on genetics, breeding, biotechnology, plant protection, soil conservation, mechanisation, water resources, etc. and mutual application of scientific results.
Exchange of experience in the field of animal husbandry on the basis of modern scientific research and technologies in order to increase the number of highly productive dairy cattle breeds and exchange of genetic resources, etc.
Exchange of experience in the field of crop production, in particular cereals and legumes (cultivation technologies, research management, storage, processing and marketing).
Exchange of experience in the field of seed production based on modern technologies; exchange of information on the certification of seed material in accordance with the legislation of the Parties.
Cooperation in the field of plant variety expertise and protection of rights to plant varieties; exchange of seed samples on favourable terms, including on a give-and-take basis.
Studying the effectiveness and feasibility of various types of irrigation, including micro-irrigation, including drip irrigation.
Conducting research on the effective use of various fertilisers for their further registration.
Cooperation in agricultural and food trade.
Promoting joint ventures and exchanging information on the development of food markets.
Exchange of information and methodology on the effective use of food and packaging technologies.
Cooperation in agricultural research and food safety and standards.
Cooperation in aquaculture and fisheries, in particular: exchange of experience in the field of fish and invertebrate aquaculture technologies, management of the national fund of fishery water bodies of Ukraine and India and their rational use for aquaculture purposes, etc.
The Agreement comes into force on the date of its signing and is valid for five years.
