Latin America and the Caribbean is a region with which Ukraine has been establishing direct political, trade and economic relations over the past few years. Deepening cooperation will help open up new areas of cooperation between our countries, especially in the fields of engineering, precision machinery, equipment, etc. The inter-factional parliamentary association "Ukraine - Latin America and the Caribbean: Cooperation for the Future" is actively involved in the process of restoring and establishing ties.
This was stated by Dmytro Natalukha, the MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Development, who led the inter-factional parliamentary delegation to Latin America and the Caribbean.
"We are working in several directions. First and foremost, we are trying to convince these countries to become more actively involved in the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. For example, Chile has already committed itself to the fifth point of the Peace Formula, which concerns the restoration of territorial integrity. Argentina is actively working in the same direction. The second issue is the return of our children deported by russia. Our partners understand this tragedy, and they are ready to act as mediators and assistants and have announced that they are joining the international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children," the politician said.
He added that an equally important issue is the establishment of economic and trade relations, as well as deepening cooperation in the defence and technology sectors.
"We need to build direct chains of cooperation and offer our services to the countries of the region. For example, Chile and Argentina have an extremely high demand for specialists and technologies in the aerospace industry. They know that Ukraine has a fairly strong engineering school in space and aircraft construction. Now they are looking with interest at the development of our small aircraft, at progress in the field of drones, in the field of turbine manufacturing," the parliamentarian said.
He reminded that in 2013 Ukraine signed an agreement on military-technological cooperation with Argentina.
"We have ratified this agreement, but the Argentine parliament has not yet ratified it. Therefore, one of the tasks of our delegation is to achieve the ratification of this agreement in the near future in order to open up new areas of cooperation between our countries. In particular, in the areas of mechanical engineering, precision engineering, equipment, etc.," the MP said.
According to him, the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean are well aware of what Ukraine is fighting for.
"All the countries of this region have gone through similar problems – the struggle against dictatorships, against tyrants, against empires. In this context, you can talk to the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and they hear and understand everything," said Dmytro Natalukha.
