On 15 July 2024, Oleh Bondarenko, the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management, met with Morten Enberg, Director of the USAID RADA: The Next Generation Programme.
The meeting focused on the large amount of work that the Committee needs to do in the field of environmental policy, nature management, and all the subjects under the Committee's jurisdiction to ensure Ukraine's accession to the EU. For us, European integration means, first of all, new commitments and new areas of work.
The Committee, with the support of our friends around the world, and in particular the USAID RADA: Next Generation Programme, continues to develop European integration draft laws and implement the best international legislative practices.
In the near future, the draft law on the basic principles of state climate policy, which was developed to bring Ukrainian climate legislation closer to EU law, is scheduled to be considered in the first reading.
The parties expressed their readiness to continue cooperation between the Programme and the Committee as a model.
The parties discussed areas of further cooperation, as well as support for the development of horizontal ties and the study of the experience of the European Parliament and the parliaments of EU member states, in particular Sweden, in implementing the provisions of EU regulations into Ukrainian legislation.
The parties expressed their readiness for further cooperation, exchanged plans for its implementation in the short and medium term, and signed relevant documents.
