The International Peace Summit is over, but work is underway to expand the list of states that support Ukraine and will join the joint communiqué. The main thing is that the foundation has been laid, and the majority of the civilised world has shown support for our country. In fact, we are now talking about forming an anti-putin coalition.
This was stated by the MP, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, Head of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to the NATO PA Yehor Chernev.
“It is important for us that further steps towards peace are based on the principles of the UN Charter, which means that there can be no questions about the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. The vast majority of states that attended the Peace Summit agreed with this,” the MP said.
According to him, by the next Peace Summit, we will have to work on expanding the circle of our allies.
“Conventionally, all states can be divided into three camps. The first is allies or satellites of russia: Iran, North Korea, belarus. We should not expect them to change their position. The second is our allies who signed the joint communiqué of the Peace Summit. In fact, this is an anti-putin coalition. The third group is the countries that are still hesitating to join. And this raises the question of our and the world’s diplomacy, which must act. We now have almost 100 countries and international organisations with us, and in such a situation it is difficult to side with the aggressor. I believe that other countries will join us,” the politician stressed.
He added that following the meeting, a request would be sent to russia to implement the three areas of the “Peace Formula” discussed during the summit.
“If this request is not fulfilled, the summit will develop solutions that will be implemented either bilaterally or collectively. In particular, in case of failure to fulfil the item on nuclear safety, for example, sanctions may be imposed on the russian nuclear power industry. This is a very influential lever, and the Peace Summit was attended by states that can do this,” the MP stressed.
