Following a meeting in Berlin with John Moren, Senior Advisor to DFC's Chief Operating Officer for Ukraine, Halyna Yanchenko, a member of the Committee on Economic Development, said that by the end of the year a permanent office of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), an agency of the U.S. Treasury responsible for military risk insurance, will be launched in Ukraine.
"We discussed such great news about the launch of the Ukrainian DFC office on the sidelines of an event in Berlin. In the near future, there will be many more projects covered by military insurance, but I cannot disclose details yet. We also discussed with John the insurance of private companies that launch energy projects in Ukraine," the MP said.
She recalled that DFC's work in Ukraine once seemed impossible. At the beginning of 2022, cooperation between Ukraine and international companies like DFC seemed especially fantastic.
"Today, the situation has changed dramatically, and in 2023, thanks to titanic diplomatic efforts and international organizations such as DFC and MIGA, the war risk insurance system was launched. The first 7 projects of Ukrainian businesses have already received war risk insurance from these American agencies. The impossible becomes possible only when you are brave and persistent," emphasized Halyna Yanchenko.
For reference. The U.S. Agency for International Development (DFC) is the United States government's development finance institution. DFC works with the private sector to finance solutions to some of the most critical problems facing the world today. The Corporation invests in a variety of sectors, including energy, health, infrastructure, agriculture, small business, and financial services.
