The Committee on Law Enforcement held a meeting with the Chairman of the Committee Serhii Ionushas and the Deputy Chairman Hryhorii Mamka with the delegation of the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM Ukraine), the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine and the European External Action Service (EEAS).
The following issues were discussed during the meeting:
- development of a national model of transitional justice;
- experience of countries where transitional justice has been applied;
- validation of transactions, civil status acts and court decisions that took place in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine;
- the control function of the parliament (in relation to law enforcement agencies and prosecutors) in the EU countries;
- a comprehensive plan for reforming Ukraine's law enforcement system in line with EU recommendations.
"The issue of the transitional justice model will be one of the most challenging tasks that will require further in-depth discussions among experts with the involvement of relevant European practices," said Ionushas.
The European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine is currently working closely with the Committee on civilian security sector reform, providing strategic advice and practical support in line with EU standards and international principles.
The Committee and EUAM have identified areas of common interest and future cooperation in 2024.
