The Chairperson of the Committee on Budget Roksolana Pidlasa met in Brussels with the MEP from Romania Cristian Terhe?, who is a member of the ECR (European Conservatives and Reformists) group in the European Parliament. The ECR group has been actively supporting Ukraine since the first days of the war.

“Interestingly, one of the issues that Christian and I are jointly outraged about is the position of Raiffeisen Bank Aval, whose russian subsidiary provides preferential loan repayment terms for russian soldiers who kill Ukrainians, and also recognizes the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine – the so-called DPR and LPR – as separate entities. This contradicts the official position of both Austria and the EU,” the MP said.

The Chairwoman of the Budget Committee said that last week the NBU emphasized that Raiffeisen, OTP, Intesa, ING, Credit Agricole groups should finally leave the russian market. By staying in russia, these banks choose to support the aggressor and its war crimes. “The National Bank will address requests to the respective governments and regulators to initiate an appropriate response,” she added.

“For our part, we will try to initiate a reaction from the European Parliament to Raiffeisen’s carefree position. You will have to decide which side you are on,”  –Roksolana Pidlasa said after the meeting.
