Today, the international community is being tested, and the world structure that was created after the Second World War to prevent wars and armed conflicts is crumbling like a sandcastle, because the russian federation does not fulfil its obligations under the UN.

It was stated by the MP, the Head of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to PACE Mariia Mezentseva.

“Ukraine has one big request concerning fairness and justice. Therefore, serious work is being done in the framework of the investigation of war crimes of the russian federation in our country. It means that every case of destruction of houses by russians, launch of every missile that hit civilian objects or killed someone will be investigated. These are war crimes, crimes against humanity as well as a hint of potential genocide,” the MP said.

She stressed that the root cause of such actions that is a full-scale invasion of the territory of independent Ukraine by the terrorist state of russia on February 24 this year is being separately considered.

“It repeated this supreme crime of aggression that took place in March 2014. And it is very important for us that the investigation continues in the framework of cooperation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine to document the crimes of russia related to aggression. More than 75 thousand of them have already been recorded, 45 thousand of them are war crimes,” the MP said.

According to her, Ukraine insists on the establishment of a separate special tribunal to punish the perpetrators.

“We (MPs) are working on the creation of such a tribunal together with the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Today, our delegation, being in Paris as part of the advocacy tour for the creation of such a special tribunal, speaks about its necessity, we debunk the myths spread among French politicians,” said Maria Mezentseva.

In her opinion, it is quite possible to develop the mechanism of the special tribunal.

“There is a demand for it not only in Ukraine, but all over the world. Now we need to choose a format – it can be a springboard of the UN, the Council of Europe or agreements with partner countries in a bilateral format. We hope to do it as soon as possible and restore justice,” the politician stressed.

She added that on December 30, the National Assembly (one of the chambers of the French parliament) is expected to vote for the establishment of a tribunal for russia and prosecution of russian President putin and his inner circle for the repeated invasion of Ukraine.
