On April 5, 2022, the members of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation headed by the Chairman of the Committee Oleksandr Merezhko, met by video conference with Heads of Foreign Affairs Committees of the Nordic and Baltic States (NB8).

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current security situation in Ukraine today and further steps of cooperation between the countries. Ukrainian MP's informed their colleagues on war crimes and crimes against humanity. It's the genocide of the Ukrainian people committed by the russian federation in our territory today, in particular the Chairman of the Committee Oleksandr Merezhko reported on crimes committed in Bucha and Irpin.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the issues of forced deportation of more than 2,000 Ukrainian citizens to the territory of the russian federation and the abduction of democratically elected mayors of Ukraine and public figures.

The Chairman and members of the Committee thanked for the support and assistance to Ukraine and called on parliament members of NB8 to promote the toughest devastating sanctions on Russia, including restrictions on oil, gas and coal imports, further sanctions in the banking sector, comorehensive disconnections from SWIFT, cessation of all russian investment in EU energy sector, including in the nuclear energy sector, the closure of seaports for commercial vessels of the russian federation.

From the Ukrainian side, the meeting was attended by members of the Committee Maryna Bardina, Olena Khomenko and Maria Ionova.
