The discussion of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which takes place on March 20-24, 2022 in Nusa Dua (Indonesia), raised an urgent issue regarding russia's aggression against Ukraine. The Ukrainian delegation participates in the work of the Assembly by videoconference.

For the inclusion in the agenda of the debate on the draft resolution "Peaceful solution to the war in Ukraine, respect for international law, the Charter of the United Nations and territorial integrity", prepared by Geopolitical Group 12+ (which includes Ukraine) and introduced on behalf of the New  Zealand, more than two-thirds of the votes were cast in this World Parliamentary Forum. This draft was prepared taking into account the provisions of UN General Assembly Resolution 11/1 "Aggression against Ukraine" of March 2, 2022, as well as the proposals of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation. Lesya Vasylenko, a member of the Ukrainian delegation and President of the Bureau of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians of the IPU, spoke online at the plenary session of the Assembly during the discussion of the inclusion of the urgent issue on the agenda.  She stressed that the international community, and in particular the Inter-Parliamentary Union, must once and for all condemn the flagrant violation of international law, which is russia's criminal aggression against Ukraine.
