As of March 17, 2022, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General, since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 108 children have been killed and more than 120 children have been injured.
A two-year-old child died as a result of the shelling of Novy Petrivtsi by Russian troops near Vyshhorod.
In the Zaporizhia region, Putin Nazis opened fire on a convoy of civilians evacuating from Mariupol. Five people were injured, including two children. One child is in critical condition.
In the city of Severodonetsk, Luhansk region, the Russians fired at a shelter for mothers with children. Fortunately, no one was injured.
In the city of Mariupol, Russian aircraft bombed a drama theatre where many civilians, including children, were hiding. The occupiers had deliberately ignored the signs "CHILDREN" both on the roof top of the theatre and near it. The building was damaged badly but the shelter beneath it did withstand the impact of a high-powered air bomb and protected the lives of people hiding in the theatre's bomb shelter. Work is underway to unlock the basement and remove the debris. Living adults and children come from there. So far there is no information about the dead or wounded under the rubble of the theatre.
The bombing of the premises where the children were hiding is an act of genocide and a crime against humanity.
Currently, the closure of the Ukrainian sky is extremely urgent, as a first step to stop Russian aggression. We urge the G7 countries and NATO members to stop the Russian bloodthirsty aggressor in Ukraine. Otherwise it will have to be stopped in the territories of NATO member countries.
