The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development calls on NATO to close the sky above Ukraine.

Ukrainian sky remains the most vulnerable part of the Ukrainian defense.

Every day, Russian missiles strike Ukrainian territory east to west. Today, several civilian buildings were hit in Kyiv. Many people were injured and killed.

On March 13, 30 missiles were fired at the Lviv oblast alone. Some of them were shot down, but if the Armed Forces of Ukraine had robust modern air defense systems that NATO countries have, they would have shot down all of the missiles. Moreover, Russian military would not behave as defiantly in the sky as it does now. The shelling of the International Center for Peace and Security in Yavoriv alone killed 35 people and injured 134 others.

The war moved close to NATO countries' borders as the Yavoriv site is only 20 km away from Poland! Once again, we urge NATO leadership to come together and immediately decide to close Ukraine's airspace in any way.

This is not only a question of the security of the Ukrainian territory. Today, it is a question of the security of all European countries.
