Russian military aggression has been going on in Ukraine for the ninth year. Russia's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine has been going on for four weeks.
Brutal murders - genocide of the Ukrainian people, destruction of the country's infrastructure, nuclear blackmail of the world - these and other crimes against humanity will be condemned for generations. They will receive legal assessment in the highest courts.
On Sunday, March 13th, the Russian occupiers shot the journalists of The New York Nimes in Irpen. Brent Renaud, a citizen of the United States, died. His colleague was injured. They showed the world all the Russian occupiers' meanness, cunning, and cruelty.
Journalists are the Eyes and the Voice of War. It is the documentation and memory of terrible crimes and the inevitability of punishment for them.
As the Committee on Freedom of Speech, we cannot fail to respond to the assassination of a media representative, our colleague.
We condemn aggression.
We sympathize with the families of the victims.
We thank the world community for their help.
At the same time, we demand that the countries' governments become more actively involved in helping Ukraine fight the global threat - Putinism.
We remind you that human life is the highest value. Now it is essential to save every life! We urge you to close the sky! We encourage you to help with humanitarian corridors! Shell fragments and bullets do not select soldiers, children, or journalists. The war is ALREADY going on! And it is not only in Ukraine. It has ALREADY TOUCHED the countries of Europe and today the United States.
