"Because of the military aggression in Ukraine, which threatens world hunger, Russia should be excluded from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)," said Ukrainian MPs, members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.

Last year, a record harvest of grain and oilseeds was gathered - 108 million tons. Ukraine is consistently among the top five world exporters of grains and oilseeds, and at the beginning of last year, even took second place in this indicator.

Russia's military invasion of Ukraine has not only led to a mass flow of refugees from the country, the death of our citizens, the destruction of large and small settlements, but experts say it could lead to the most profound food crisis in modern human history.

Due to the war, sowing is under critical threat; exports through Ukrainian ports have been suspended. Every day Ukrainians suffer from enemy missiles, bombs, and bullets.

If the war continues, world markets will not get close: 60 million tons of wheat, 38 million tons of corn, and 10.5 million tons of barley, which means world grain exports will fall sharply.

Hundreds of millions of people worldwide face food shortages and a major humanitarian crisis. And this applies not only to Ukraine but also to other countries importing low-income grain.

The world is on the brink of a food crisis due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation, which is contrary to the main objectives of FAO and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The war in Ukraine is not only a question of Ukraine but also a question of the whole world!
