Members of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the OSCE PA took part in an urgent session of the Standing Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on the Military Armed Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine

On March 11, 2022, an emergency meeting of the Standing Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on Russia's military aggression against Ukraine was held by video conference, in which the head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the OSCE PA Mykyta Poturaev and the Deputy Head of the Permanent Delegation Artur Gerasimov took part.

The members of the OSCE PA Standing Committee were addressed by the Fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Deputy Chairman of the Information and Humanitarian Policy Committee, Deputy Member of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada Delegation to the OSCE PA Yevhenia Kravchuk, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to Vienna Yevhen Cymbalyuk.

In her introductory speech, Margareta Soderfelt, President of the OSCE PA Parliamentary Assembly, condemned Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and called on members of the Assembly to call on their governments to provide full support to Ukraine.

Permanent Representative of Ukraine Yevhen Tsymbalyuk conveyed the appeal of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba with a call for even stricter sanctions against Russia: Helping Ukraine protect the sky means saving civilians children and safeguarding critical infrastructure. Even a restricted no-fly zone over Ukraine will change the game's rules. Our partners will save more lives by giving Ukraine more weapons, including air defense systems. "

In his speech, the Fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, informed the audience about the security situation in Ukraine, war crimes committed in Ukraine, as well as the unprecedented crisis with refugees and internally displaced persons since the Second World War, and called for airspace closure over Ukraine.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Information and Humanitarian Policy Yevheniya Kravchuk reported on the glaring humanitarian situation in Ukraine, the shelling of maternity wards, hospitals, schools, orphanages, and crimes against humanity committed by the Russian military in Ukraine, and stressed the Russian membership inadmissibility in international organizations.

During the debate, the heads of permanent delegations and OSCE PA officials expressed support for Ukraine. They stressed violations of Russia's international law and all possible OSCE commitments, the importance of a ceasefire, and potential joint steps by parliamentarians to establish peace to the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and the establishment of peace.

The Head of the Permanent Delegation to the OSCE PA Poturayev and the Deputy Head of the Permanent Delegation Gerasimov took part in the debate.

In his speech, Nikita Poturayev informed the audience about the problematic situation in Mariupol, crimes against humanity and brutal and unworthy treatment of the aggressor's troops, shelling of humanitarian corridors, and stressed that such actions are outright terrorism and Russia is a terrorist state.

Artur Gerasimov emphasized that Ukraine is experiencing a full-scale war, including the use of weapons prohibited by international conventions, and said that the seizure of the Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plants, threatening the security of Europe.
