On March 11, 2022, an emergency meeting of the Standing Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on Russia's military aggression against Ukraine was held by video conference, in which the head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the OSCE PA Mykyta Poturaev and the Deputy Head of the Permanent Delegation Artur Gerasimov took part.
The members of the OSCE PA Standing Committee were addressed by the Fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Deputy Chairman of the Information and Humanitarian Policy Committee, Deputy Member of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada Delegation to the OSCE PA Yevhenia Kravchuk, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to Vienna Yevhen Cymbalyuk.
In her introductory speech, Margareta Soderfelt, President of the OSCE PA Parliamentary Assembly, condemned Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and called on members of the Assembly to call on their governments to provide full support to Ukraine.
In his speech, the Fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, informed the audience about the security situation in Ukraine, war crimes committed in Ukraine, as well as the unprecedented crisis with refugees and internally displaced persons since the Second World War, and called for airspace closure over Ukraine.
The Head of the Permanent Delegation to the OSCE PA Poturayev and the Deputy Head of the Permanent Delegation Gerasimov took part in the debate.
In his speech, Nikita Poturayev informed the audience about the problematic situation in Mariupol, crimes against humanity and brutal and unworthy treatment of the aggressor's troops, shelling of humanitarian corridors, and stressed that such actions are outright terrorism and Russia is a terrorist state.
Artur Gerasimov emphasized that Ukraine is experiencing a full-scale war, including the use of weapons prohibited by international conventions, and said that the seizure of the Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plants, threatening the security of Europe.
