The Committee on Budget met with representatives of the European Commission and the SIGMA Program. The meeting was attended by Jenni Lundmark, Head of the Public Finance Management, Budget Policy and Statistics Sector of the EU Delegation to Ukraine; sector manager Ekaterina Yakovleva; Senior Public Finance Management Expert, SIGMA Program, Ferdinand Pott.
During the meeting, the possibility of studying the international experience in establishing a Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) in Ukraine was discussed. These included, in particular, the needs of the Budget Committee regarding the amount of analytical information that the PBO could provide; the necessary scope and prospects for receiving EU technical assistance under the SIGMA program; development of a roadmap for cooperation in the framework of the SIGMA program on the establishment of PBO under the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to hold a seminar for representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the exchange of experience in establishing PBOs in Canada, Austria and Ireland and on the main reports and data provided by the Budget Offices of these countries for parliamentarians.
