The Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU consider the Bill on Ratification of the Contribution Agreement between Ukraine and the EBRD on Ukraine's Participation in the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership Fund.

Ratification of the agreement will help Ukraine implement energy efficiency projects in the areas of district heating, environmental protection, waste management and the use of renewable and alternative energy sources.

The draft Law developed by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine in accordance with Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine “On International Agreements of Ukraine”, according to which the Contribution Agreement is subject to ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by adopting the relevant Law of Ukraine.

Adoption of the Law will create a legal basis for the implementation of the Contribution Agreement and ensure the continuation of Ukraine's participation in the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (the E5P Fund) until 2029, which will promote investment in energy efficiency projects in the field of utilities and environment, waste management and use of renewable and alternative energy sources in Ukraine.

The Committee decided to support the bill and recommend to the Main Committee to submit it to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for adoption as a basis and in general.
