The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has created the largest inter-factional parliamentary association "For Constitutional Reform and Effective Government". It included 283 MPs.
This was stated during the extraordinary plenary sitting of the Parliament of Ukraine on July 20 by First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Co-Chair of the Association Ruslan Stefanchuk.
"The 1996 Constitution was based on the progressive world standards of that time. But since then the situation has changed dramatically. The Constitution, adopted 25 years ago, can no longer meet today's challenges. And some provisions of the Basic Law do not promote the development of Ukrainian statehood. In order to update it, we are creating this inter-factional deputy association," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
The purpose of the IFDA is to identify priority areas for reforming the Constitution of Ukraine, cooperation with expert NGOs to exchange information on the necessary current changes in the Basic Law.
