The Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management recommends to adopt in general the draft law on the implementation of the provisions of certain international agreements and EU directives in the field of fauna and flora

The members of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management considered the bill No. 2351 “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine (on the implementation of the provisions of certain international agreements and EU directives on the protection of fauna and flora)”, aimed at protecting animals from cruelty.
The draft law proposes to amend the Laws of Ukraine: “On Protection of Animals from Cruelty”, “On Fauna”, “On the National Police”, “On the Red Book of Ukraine”, “On Local Self-Government in Ukraine”, the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code , the Forest Code, the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
The Committee decided to recommend to the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the draft law in general, taking into account the amendments and proposals supported by the Committee during its consideration.
The members of the Committee considered the draft Law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Improvement of Legislation on Protection of Animals from Cruelty in Entertainment" (No. 5409).
The draft law proposes to provide the definition of the terms: "contact menagerie", "wildlife rehabilitation centers", "entertainment event", "circus" and to establish a ban on the use of animals in circuses, the activities of contact menageries with wild animals and the use of wild animals in entertainment activities, provide a demonstration of their ability to train, etc.
The Committee decided to recommend to the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the draft law as a basis.
